![]() ![]() The smoke provides particles for the water vapor to condense around. One of the most troubling kinds of fog is called “super fog.” Super fog forms when smoke from wildfires and water vapor come together to form an extremely dense fog. When it comes into contact with cold surfaces such as roads and sidewalks, it instantly forms a dangerous icy layer. In this case, water in the air becomes “supercooled.” This supercooled water is a liquid, but it is colder than the freezing point (32✯). Sometimes it is cold enough, but the air does not have any particles. Ice crystals form in the air when it’s cold enough and particles like dust or smoke in the air provide a “seed” for the ice crystal to form around. Ice fog is common in parts of Alaska and Canada.Īnother kind of fog is freezing fog. Ice fog forms only at extremely cold temperatures. Ice fog forms when the air near the ground is cold enough to turn the water in fog into ice crystals. There are many different types of fog, too. If it was, there wouldn't be any plants unless Icewarden also became a gardener god and found a way to make plants survive 3 to 6 months without sunlight.A cool December fog. If you're south and close to the Fortress of Ends, you're probably going to see "eternal" darkness or sunlight.īut if you're in Snowsquall Tundra or farther north, the weather isn't that extreme. Who knows?ĮDIT: I forgot to mention the seasons are probably different depending on which side of Cloudscrape Crags you're on. ![]() Maybe there's a mini season of floating ice floes because the warped gravity in Arcane can move and spread to different areas for a limited time. Meaning whatever occurs in the neighboring Arcane, Fire and Wind regions might also affect the seasons of Ice flight. Not sure what other types of weather would be present beyond freezing and melting periods.īut because the planet is running on magic, some of the weather might also have reactions to spikes in magic, similar to how bad storms come out of a mix of hot and cold air. Overall, however, seasonal patterns are harder to predict or understand due to the constant imbalance in elemental magic ripping through the world. The snowstorms of the Southern Icefield can send flurries as far north as the Starfall Isles. For instance, the width and strength of the Twisting Crescendo is much more fearsome in the late summer, when temperatures are warmer and more humid. The shift in temperature and weather patterns affects the elemental regions in different ways, some seeing more change than others. Sornieth indeed experiences its own winters, springs, summers, and autumns. Is there any seasons in Sornieth? If yes, how do they each effect each flight regions? Like does the Ashfall Waste get colder during winter? Does snow melt in certain areas in Southern Icefield during summer? Does it snow at all in other regions besides the Southern Icefield during winter? Unless I missed something, the only canon information we have about its seasonal weather is that apparently ice flurries move towards Arcane.įrom one of those threads where staff was answering questions: Ice flight probably has extreme seasons like any polar region, meaning there are months of darkness during winter and then pure sunlight or sunset during summer (possibly no "night" at all during peak summer). ![]()
